Core Cleanroom & Purification Engineering Terms (Quantitative Reference)
| Engineering Term | Governing Standard | Quantitative Threshold / Formula | Why It Matters in B2B Procurement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nozzle Shear Velocity (20–25 m/s) | ISO 14644-4 / GB 50073 | v >= 20–25 m/s (3,937–4,921 FPM) at nozzle exit | Velocities below 18 m/s fail to overcome boundary-layer adhesion of 0.5–5 µm particles on cleanroom coveralls. |
| Dynamic Laminar Pass Box (AB-Series) | EU GMP Annex 1 / FDA cGMP | 0.36–0.54 m/s vertical laminar flow via H14 HEPA | Required when transferring materials between different cleanliness classes (e.g., ISO 8 to ISO 7/5); includes PAO port & 0–500 Pa gauge. |
| PAO / DOP Aerosol Integrity Scan | EN 1822 / IEST-RP-CC001 | Upstream 20–80 µg/L PAO; downstream penetration <= 0.01% | Detects pinhole leaks in filter media and frame-to-housing gaskets that particle counters miss. |
| Gel-Seal (Liquid Tank) HEPA Hood | ISO 14644-3 / GMP Grade A/B | Knife-edge anodized aluminum frame submerged in non-Newtonian silicone gel | Eliminates dry neoprene gasket compression fatigue and bypass leakage; mandatory for sterile pharma & electronics suites. |
| PSA Oxygen-Fed Corona Discharge (ZCO) | US EPA Est. 102553-CHN-1 | O₂ purity 90–93%, dew point <= -45°C, O₃ conc. 85–120 g/Nm³ | Air-fed ozone achieves only 15–25 g/Nm³ (poor water solubility). Oxygen-fed ZCO skids achieve 5× higher mass transfer efficiency in Venturi water loops. |
| Ozone Water CT Value & ORP | FDA 21 CFR 173.368 (Food) | CT = Conc. (mg/L) × Time (min) >= 1.6–4.0; ORP 700–850 mV | Determines contact tank volume (e.g., 2.0–3.5 m³ SS316L tank for a 20 m³/h vegetable washing recirculation line). |
| External Static Pressure (ESP 750–900 Pa) | EN 1886 / GB/T 14294 | ESP = 750–900 Pa across G4 + F8 + H13 stages | Commercial comfort AC units only provide 100–250 Pa ESP and stall when connected to HEPA terminal ductwork. |
| Knock-Down (KD) Flat-Pack Air Shower | ISTA 3A / Export Container | Pre-wired modular SUS304 panels bolted on site with EPDM gaskets | Reduces shipping volume by 55% CBM, fitting up to 22–28 units per 40HQ container for wholesale contractors. |
Engineering & Procurement FAQ
What is the difference between H13 and H14 HEPA filters under EN 1822?
H13 captures >=99.95% at MPPS (99.99% @ 0.3 µm), while H14 captures >=99.995% at MPPS (99.999% @ 0.3 µm). We supply H13 for standard air showers and ISO 7/8 rooms, and H14/U15 for dynamic pass boxes, FFUs, and ISO 5/6 suites.
Why do vegetable washing and food plants require PSA oxygen-fed ozone (ZCO) instead of air-fed ozone (ZCA)?
Air-fed ozone generators produce low-concentration ozone gas (1.5–2.5 wt%) suited for HVAC air sterilization, whereas dissolving ozone into 20 m³/h process water requires 85–120 g/Nm³ high-concentration ozone from a PSA oxygen-fed water-cooled generator with a PVDF Venturi injector.
